Memorials and Tribute Gifts
Honor Someone Special with a Future Gift in Their Name
If you have a loved one who has been impacted by Harvard-Westlake School, establishing a memorial or tribute gift is a meaningful way to honor your loved one or celebrate a special occasion such as a birthday while supporting the work of our mission. Your memorial or tribute gift will be a lasting tribute to your loved one and make a difference in the lives of those we serve.
A Gift of Inestimable Value
Justin Rascoff '91, killed in an automobile accident two days before his graduation, thought it was unfortunate that faculty and staff had to work during the summer to make ends meet and not enjoy vacation time.
"He appreciated how stellar the faculty was. About three days before he died, he remarked to us how sad it was that all of these wonderful teachers who had made such a difference in so many people's lives had to work over the summer to make ends meet. We decided to focus on what was a concern to him — enabling faculty members to do what they wanted to do over summer vacation," his father, Joe says.
Joe and his wife, Jane, established the David Justin Rascoff '91 Memorial Fund in honor of their son's wish. The fund provides more than $25,000 each to two faculty or staff members annually to do things they might not otherwise be able to do.
"It's a fund that quite simply enables a faculty member to do whatever he or she wants to do," he says. "The first recipient, as I remember, was Dr. Dave Waterhouse. He said he had always wanted to take his son on a trip around America and attend baseball games in every major league ballpark. That's what he did. That's precisely the sort of thing that Justin would have loved."
