Susan Yun Lee ’98
Canyon and Glen Society*
Susan Yun Lee declares, "Harvard-Westlake is a wonderful community, as well as an extraordinary academic institution." She felt an awareness of the school as a second home while a student and her appreciation for this special quality has only grown greater over the years. Today, she continues to find engagement through several of the affinity groups and also supports the scholarship program. Susan is clear, "Harvard-Westlake is an organization I love to support!"
Her career direction also reflects her deep commitment to philanthropy. Her family always stressed the importance of generosity. Susan was taught that "giving is important, it is part of life and just what you do." So, in addition to her annual fund gift, she has also remembered her alma mater with a planned gift in her estate providing for a scholarship fund. "I have always wanted to create a scholarship in my mother's name because she was such a key figure in my education and who I am as a person, and this is a first step."
With her two children just beginning school and much of life still ahead, there remain many goals to juggle and demands to balance. But, Susan maintains an optimistic spirit as she lives by another adage learned from her parents: "You don't have to have a lot to be generous."
*Canyon and Glen is an honorary organization that recognizes alumni and friends who choose to support Harvard-Westlake School.
